Planning an Out Of This World Night
Ever get so wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of your life that you forget to slow down and enjoy the moment? We, too!
However, existing just above our heads is one of the world’s greatest beauties: the sky. Whether you are craving some quality time with your significant other, kids, or friends, this guide will help you plan the perfect summer stargazing night.
What you need to do:
Pick a good site - The darker it is, the easier it is to see the night sky. Look for a spot with minimal light pollution. For those city dwellers, driving 15-20 minutes outside the city will help avoid excessive lights.
Check the weather - Best starwatching conditions require clear skies. If the forecast is calling for clouds, you’ll have to reschedule.
Find good company: We suggest calling up family and friends with whom you’ve been meaning to catch up.
What to bring:
Seating - Bring some chairs to recline or fuzzy blankets to lay back and snuggle.
Snacks - What’s a night out without tasty food? We recommend pre-made s'mores, a thermos for warm beverages and some freshly cut fruit.
Binoculars - Fancy telescope equipment is not needed to see the night sky. A cheap pair of binoculars will do, or you can rely solely on your eyes.
Music - Create a playlist or pack a radio to add some tunes to the night.
Starwatching help - Print star watching sheets or download an app to help identify constellations.
